Previously, one of the most inconvenient aspects of getting a crown was waiting two to three weeks for the dental lab to finish it. With the development of intraoral digital scanning, combined with tabletop ceramic milling machines, that is no longer necessary! Using the Ceramill system, the dentists at the Sacramento Dentistry Group now take images of your teeth and jaw, input these files into a program specifically designed for dental applications, and have a crown, overlay or inlay ready for installation in a maximum of 24 hours.

How Does Ceramill Work?

Ceramill Motion 2All modern milling machines take their instructions from a precise digital model kept in their controlling computer. Our dentists create this model with 3-D imagery that lets them see how the repaired tooth will match up with its neighbors, the gum line and the teeth in the opposite jaw. Once the crown is electronically designed to perfectly fit in your mouth, the Ceramill takes a new block of ceramic material and carves it into the necessary shape to fit your tooth.

Ceramill works with a wide variety of ceramics and porcelains. These materials come in many different shades to match the exact color of your existing teeth. The end result is a dental repair that fits right from the start, looks like your natural teeth, and shortens the time required to complete your procedure.

Ceramill at the Sacramento Dentistry Group is just one more example of our desire to use emerging dental technology for the benefit of our patients.
